Deep South Chiropractic, under the direction of Dr. John Johnson, is not only in the business of treating patients, but aiding families in need throughout the area.
Macaroni Mountain is an annual event sponsored by Deep South which encourages existing patients and new patients to donate boxed macaroni and cheese to families in need.
“We began this program some years ago as a way to give back to our community,” said Johnson.
Throughout the year Deep South Chiropractic conducts similar events, collecting groceries and then donating them to the Leesville Area Ministerial Alliance where they can be distributed to families in need of nutritional assistance.
Macaroni Mountain always falls during Patient Appreciation Week. Existing patients who donate at least 15 boxes of macaroni received a free adjustment on the first day of the event. The remainder of the week was dedicated to new patients.
With a donation of 15 boxes of macaroni new patients receive a new patient consultation, new patient exam and up to two x-rays.
“With many people not knowing exactly what chiropractic services are and the initial visit almost always being the most expensive, this is a good and inexpensive way for new patients to come in for an evaluation to see if the services we offer would benefit them,” said Johnson.
Johnson hopes that Macaroni Mountain can branch out to other businesses in the area.
“It would be wonderful to see an entire truck full of macaroni and cheese,” said Johnson.
Johnson explained that next week the macaroni will be donated to LAMA just in time for the Thanksgiving food boxes to be distributed.
“We live in a great community and we want to see it grow,” said Johnson. “We just want to play a bigger part in giving back to our community.”
