What a difference a couple of days makes.
The Leesville Lady Cats got 21 points from sophomore Tiffany Wallace in a 62-51 loss to the LaGrange Lady Gators on Thursday at the LaGrange Tournament in Lake Charles.
Leesville (0-2) played LaGrange on Tuesday night in the season opener and lost by 36 points. Just two days later, the Lady Cats are now within 11 points of LaGrange (2-0).
"We played well tonight," Leesville head coach Robert Carter said. "We played much better tonight than on Tuesday."
The Lady Cats found themselves trailing at the end of the first quarter, 15-11, but used a 16-12 scoring advantage in the second period of play to send the game into the intermission deadlocked at 27-27.
LaGrange attempted to pull away in the third period, using a 17-12 scoring advantage to take a five-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Over the final eight minutes, Leesville refused to go away, not letting LaGrange run away with a big victory.
Yosha Watson paced the Lady Gators with 21 points, while Sharde Henry and Rachel Easton added 20 and 10 points, respectively, in the victory.
In addition to Wallace, the Lady Cats had one more player in double figures as Jasmine Wright netted 10 points.
The Lady Cats will play twice Saturday at the tournament, facing St. Louis at 10:30 a.m. and Welsh at 1:30 p.m.

The Sulphur Golden Tors took an early lead and never let go of it as they defeated the Leesville Wampus Cats in a game at the LaGrange Tournament on Thursday, 62-39.
Leesville (0-2) fell behind at the end of the first quarter by five points, 11-6. Sulphur continued to build on its lead in the second quarter by using a 16-12 edge, taking a 27-18 advantage into the locker room.
A 17-9 run by Sulphur in the third quarter pushed the lead to 44-27 by the opening seconds of the fourth period.
Over the final eight minutes, the Golden Tors outscored Leesville, 18-12, to secure the win.
Kaleb Chevis paced Sulphur with 15 points.
Lashawn Waters led Leesville with 13 points, while Anthony Davis and Tracy Smith finished with nine and eight points, respectively.
The Wampus Cats return to action on Saturday at the LaGrange Tournament, playing two games that day, including a 7:30 p.m. showdown against the Barbe Bucs.

ELIZABETH — In a rematch of last year's state quarterfinals, the Hathaway Lady Hornets (8-3) earned a little revenge on Thursday, knocking off the Hornbeck Lady Hornets in the first round of the Elizabeth Tournament, 48-42.
Hornbeck (8-5) trailed by one point at the end of the first period of play, 11-10, but used a 13-11 scoring edge in the second quarter to take a one-point lead in at the break, 23-22.
However, Hathaway limited Hornbeck to just seven points in the third frame, turning the deficit into a 35-30 lead going into the final eight minutes of regulation.
Hathaway held off Hornbeck in the fourth to get the victory.
Beverly Cormier led Hathaway with 19 points, while Lindsey Fontenot had 13 points.
Breanna Poston led Hornbeck with 18 points, while Kendra Slaughter netted 12 points.
Hornbeck returns to action on Monday at the annual Louisiana College Coca Cola Tournament in Pineville, taking on the Peabody Lady Warhorses at 10 a.m.
