The Leesville Junior High School Bible Club has been collecting canned food items since early November so needy families throughout the area will have groceries for the Christmas season.
Through the club’s effort and the efforts of the entire school 12 large boxes of canned food containing a variety of items were collected and donated to the Leesville Area Ministerial Alliance’s “Operation We Care” food drive, according to Rebecca Robbins, co-chair of the Bible Club.
“Many families will benefit from the canned food drive, and it makes me feel good to know that I participated,” said Chris Freshley, an active member in the club.
The club was organized during the 2004-2005 school year but has expanded under the leadership of faculty advisors Kathy Westerchil and Robbins.
There are currently 52 members in the club.
The canned food drive, according to Ronny Maines, “Rocks.”
“The food drive helps everyone have a Merry Christmas too,” said Walker Dillon. “It helps me sleep better at night knowing that all the families have food on Christmas.”

The Bible Club is always looking for ways they can help out in the communty. If there are any ideas of ways they could assist please contact the Leesville Junior Higgh administration office at 337-238-4113.
