Another day, another easy win in the books.
The Hornbeck Lady Hornets (15-7) scored all the points they needed in the first period, blasting the Ebarb Lady Rebels in the second round of the H-Town Holiday Jam on Friday, 69-25.
With the win, Hornbeck reached the semifinals of its tournament, where it faced the Simpson Lady Broncos early Saturday afternoon.
Nikki Manes got the Lady Broncos on the board with a layup, followed by another layup, this one from Haley Baggs.
Kimberly Sraton got the Lady Rebels on the board a little later, but the Lady Hornets used an 11-0 run to open up a 15-2 lead, getting four more points from Baggs, along with four points from Kendra Slaughter.
After a Brooke Curtis basket stopped the first run, Hornbeck put together another surge, this one to the tune of 12-0, as Breanna Poston had six points in the spurt, with Baggs, Slaughter and Kaitlyn Fields each scoring a bucket as the Lady Hornets took a 27-4 lead.
Curtis again temporarily stopped the run with a bucket, but Shana Lee drained a three-pointer as the first-quarter clocked waned to 0:00, giving Hornbeck a 30-6 lead.
Kirstie West and Courtney Townson led the way for Hornbeck during a 14-7 surge in the second period, with West scoring five points and Townson netting six points as the Lady Hornets went into the intermission with a comfortable lead, 44-13.
The Hornbeck starters returned for a few minutes in the third period, enough time for them to put together a 15-2 run, opening up a 59-15 lead. Manes had six points in the surge, while Slaughter added five points.
The lead grew to 61-15 for Hornbeck when Megan Self scored in the post, but Curtis connected on two free throws in the final seconds of the third quarter, leaving the Lady Hornets with a 61-17 advantage.
Hornbeck managed to push out to a 50-point advantage during the fourth quarter as Laken Baggs and Townson each had a three-pointers during an 8-2 run, but the Lady Rebels scored the final six points of the contest to account for the final score.
A total of 10 players scored for Hornbeck, with five netting nine points or more.
Slaughter paced Hornbeck with 11 points, while Poston and Haley Baggs added 10 points apiece. Manes and Townson finished with nine points each.
Curtis led all scorers with 17 points for the Lady Rebels.
