Memorial services for Chaplain Donald Elmer Ude, 75, of Belton will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove with Rev. John Heckmann and Rev. Dr. Wilbert Sohns officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery with full military honors.
Chaplain Ude died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at his home.
Donald was born Nov. 11, 1933 in Hollywood, Calif. to Elmer F. and Vera (Eggers) Ude. Chaplain Ude married Audrey Seggebruch on Sept. 1, 1957 in Watseka, Ill.   Donald graduated from St. John’s College in Winfield, Kan. and Concordia Seminary in Clayton, Mo. Chaplain Ude was ordained in 1958 as a Lutheran minister. He proudly served more than 23 years in the United States Army. Before beginning his career in the Army he started his pastoral career at St John Lutheran Church in Cypress, Texas. After his retirement from the Army he served as pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Killeen, Texas and Faith Lutheran Church in Lampasas.
 Chaplain Ude is survived by his wife, Audrey Ude of Belton; one son, Michael Ude of Pineville; two daughters, Virginia Rincon and husband Fernando of Belton, Susan Freshley and husband Mark of New Llano; one brother, Roger Ude of Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters, Luella Rubino of Capistrano Beach, Calif., Donna Beltran of Anaheim, Calif.; three grandchildren, Stephen Freshley, Christopher Freshley and Michelle Freshley all of New Llano.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heartfield Funeral Home.
