The Iron Man Motorcycle Rally, a joint effort between the Vernon and Beauregard parish Sheriff's offices, brought in nearly $17,000 to benefit the families of fallen Deputy Robbie Beane and injured deputies Dale Sharp and Brian Leedom who were all involved in the tragic traffic accident that claimed Beane's life on May 5.
Despite the sweltering heat, over 300 bikes participated in the ride Saturday, which began at the Beauregard Parish Covered Arena on US 190 and then traveled along a route that took it to LA 111 and through Hodges Gardens, ultimately finishing at the Vernon Parish Fairgrounds.
"I'm very grateful to Rhonda Jordan, Chris Busby and Ronnie Wiggins at the VPSO, and everyone else there, for all of their help and hard work," says Beauregard Parish Sheriff Ricky Moses. "We had a great turnout; we were very pleased."
Moses said the money will be split up between the two deputies and the surviving family of Beane.
