The Hicks Pirates had three players score in double figures on Friday night in a 59-46 win over the Lacassine Cardinals in non-district action. With the victory, Hicks enters District 6-C play on Tuesday at home against Plainview with a record of 10-20 overall. Lacassine dropped to 18-16 on the season. The Pirates jumped out to a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 28-19 advantage into the halftime break. Lacassine was never able to make a comeback as Hicks picked up the double-digit victory. Joseph Carman and Michael Borders each had 18 points to lead the Pirates, while Devin Kirschener added 10 points in the win. Josh Dubroc finished with 11 points for the Cardinals. Anacoco.....41 East Beauregard...29 ANACOCO The sixth-ranked Anacoco Indians closed out the first half of District 4-2A with a perfect 6-0 mark as they knocked off the East Beauregard Trojans on Friday, 41-29. Anacoco (21-3, 6-0) owned a 15-11 lead after the first eight minutes of play and used a 12-6 surge in the second quarter to open up a 27-17 advantage at the halftime intermission. The offense for both teams seemed to stall in the second half, with Anacoco using a 6-1 scoring edge in the third period to take a 33-18 lead into the final frame of action. The Trojans outscored Anacoco in the fourth quarter, but not by enough to change the outcome, which was an Indian victory. Matt Moss and Clinton McCrary each had 11 points in the win for the Indians, while John Reese and Chris Lenahan added nine and eight points, respectively. The Red Devils owned a 24-12 lead at the end of the first period and used a 19-15 scoring edge in the second to take a 43-27 advantage into the half. Pickering continued to pour it on in the second half en route to claiming the easy win. Andre Belton led Pickering with 19 points, while Javon Boyd added 17 points for the Red Devils. Joey Smith finished with 15 points for Pickering, while Angel Veintidos contributed 14 points. Brendon Brown and Jaleel Bridges had 16 and 10 points, respectively, for DeQuincy. Fairview.....97 Evans....60 EVANS For the second straight game, the sixth-ranked Fairview Panthers exploded for 42 points in the second period, racing past the Evans Eagles in District 5-B action on Friday, 97-60. With the win, Fairview improved to 23-6 overall, 5-0 in district play heading into a road game Tuesday at Simpson. Evans dropped to 8-21 overall, 0-5 in the league as it prepares for a road game against Singer, also on Tuesday. The Panthers were up by six points after the first quarter, 22-16, but used a 42-15 run in the second quarter to open up a 64-31 lead at the halftime intermission. Evans managed to outscore Fairview in the third quarter, but still trailed by 32 points entering the fourth period, where the Panthers regained the advantage en route to victory. Cody Neal scored 39 points to lead Fairview, while Colby Marler and Tyler Maddox finished with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Trevor Fox had 19 points to pace the Eagles, while Zane Crocker added 15 points. Grant....73 Leesville....71 DRY PRONG The Grant Cougars rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat the Leesville Wampus Cats on Friday in District 4-4A play, 73-71. Grant improved to 10-9 overall, 1-1 in district, while Leesville dropped to 4-14 on the season, 1-1 in the league. After being behind by nine at the end of the first, Leesville outscored the Cougars, 30-11, in the second period to claim a 42-32 lead at the half. However, Grant rallied over the final 16 minutes to take the win. Levander Liggins led Leesville with 20 points, while Reggie Smith added 17 points. Kevin Edwards contributed with 12 points, while freshman Charles Williams notched 10 points. Leesville is at home on Tuesday in District 4-4A play against top-ranked and undefeated Peabody. Pitkin def. Singer SINGER Trevor West knocked down six three-pointers en route to scoring 21 points in leading the Pitkin Tigers to a three-point win on Friday in District 5-B action against Singer. The Tigers are 13-17 overall, 3-2 in district as they prepare to host the Hornbeck Hornets on Tuesday. Colby Tilley added 12 points for the Tigers in the win.
