The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of James Higginbotham, 34, of Boyce, on Friday, June 11.  In February, several checks were stolen from a local business. One of the checks was cashed by Higginbotham, a former employee of the business.  Higginbotham was entered into the National Crime Information Center data bank which revealed that he was residing in Boyce. Detectives with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office contacted officers with the Probation and Parole Office in Alexandria who picked Higginbotham up and detained him until transport officers from Vernon Parish arrived to take Higginbotham into custody.
He was booked into the Vernon Parish jail with a $2,500 bond and a hold for Probation and Parole. Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
