The Mayor’s Women’s Commission of Leesville hosted a reception honoring Mayor Betty Westerchil on Monday June 14 at the home of Shirley Smith.  The Vernon Parish Tourism Commission presented Westerchil a pottery bowl made by Emily McDonald, a local artist.  The Leesville Main Street presented the mayor a watercolor picture of Downtown Main Street, painted by Tony McDonald, a local artist, while the Mayor’s Women’s Commission presented her with a book of New Orleans with inscriptions on the inside from each of the members of the Commission. Westerchil's term as Mayor ends at 10 a.m. July 1.
