  • Two soldiers died during this past weekend, according to a spokesman for Fort Polk.
Christian Adams, 23, of Oklahoma, was found dead on Saturday from an apparent self-inflicted gun-shot wound at his residence in Timber Ridge Estates on Entrance Road.
"We found nothing there that indicated any type of foul play," said Vernon Parish Sheriff's Chief of Detectives Marvin Hilton of the second soldier's death. The sheriff's office has jurisdiction over the case since it occurred off base, said a spokesman for Fort Polk.
Hilton said the body has been turned over to military officials who will do an autopsy.
A second soldier was found deceased in the barracks Sunday, Sept. 26.
"According to Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, at this point in the investigation no foul play is suspected, although they have not completely ruled it out to ensure a complete and thorough investigation," the Fort Polk spokesman said.
A spokesman for the U.S.A. Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Belvoir, Va. declined to release the soldier's name or cause of death, citing the need to protect the integrity of the investigative process.
Fort Polk Public Affairs indicated that further details would be released once the investigation is complete.
