Vernon Parish voters will consider on April 30 whether to continue a 10-year 7.92 mills property tax for providing funds for improvement, operation and maintenance of the Vernon Parish Public Library System.
The proposed millage is a .92 increase over the 7 mills tax authorized to be levied through the year 2011 approved by voters October 20, 2001.
The tax will result in an estimated $916,098 annually for a period of 10 years beginning with the year 2012 and ending in 2021. The funds are to be used for improvement, operation and maintenance of the Vernon Parish Public Library System.
