The Ladies Auxilliary of American Legion Post 387 in New Llano will conduct a German Mayfest, or Tanz in den Mai, (Dance into May), beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the New Llano American Legion Post.


The Ladies Auxilliary of American Legion Post 387 in New Llano will conduct a German Mayfest, or Tanz in den Mai, (Dance into May), beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the New Llano American Legion Post.
Anyone with any connection to Germany is encouraged to attend. For a $5 entry fee, guests will be served Bratwurst with a bun, German potato salad and German saurkraut.  
In Germany, May 1 and the arrival of spring is celebrated in villages by erecting a maypole, usually a tall birch or pine. It is traditional to have a party, called Tanz in den Mai,  with live music, the night before, on April 30.
