Radio Stations KVVP, KROK, KUMW will team up with the Leesville Civitan Club and the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office to co-host the annual Easter Eggstravaganza for kids on Saturday April 23 at the Louisiana Lions Camp for Children.
The public is invited to visit the camp beginning at 11 a.m.
The egg hunt is age specific. The infant to 4 year old hunt will take place at 12:05 p.m. Parents will be allowed to go with the kids in this age group. The 5 to 8 year olds will hunt eggs in a separate area beginning at 12:20 p.m. while the 9 to 12 year olds will search for their eggs at 12:40 p.m. There will also be a hunt area for children with special needs. The brightly colored plastic eggs will be filled with an assortment of individually wrapped hard candy, gift certificates and great door prizes.
The Leesville Civitan Club will be selling food and drinks for a nominal cost and they will also host a series of carnival games for kids to play. There will be face painting and inflatables to bounce in prior to the egg hunts. Parents can also have their children's pictures taken with the Easter Bunny for a small donation.
All monies raised from the event will be donated to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. Program and to the Lion's Camp for Children.
Nearly six thousand eggs and hundreds of dollars in door prizes will be placed into the hunt areas. The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office will assist with the parking of cars and offer general security for the camp.
The Louisiana Lion's Camp for Children is located six miles north of Leesville on HWY 171. There is no admission for the event and the general public is invited. For more information on the Easter Eggstravaganza contact Rick Barnickel at 537-5887.
