  • A New Llano man and woman have been arrested following a joint investigation by the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office and the Leesville Police Department, according to Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft and Leesville Police Chief Greg Hill.
Arrested was Nathan Aubrey Jeane, 25 and his wife, Candice Marie Jeane, 25.
A joint investigation into burglaries at 23 area churches, on 29 occasions, and eight area businesses began in March. Investigators with each department conducted countless hours of criminal patrol, reviewed surveillance video and interviewed victims and witnesses, said Craft.
"Both agencies worked in conjunction to identify and apprehend this suspect," said Craft.
Nathan Jeane was arrested May 14, 2011 after detectives conducting criminal patrol witnessed him burglarize a business in Vernon Parish.
Nathan Jeane was charged with one count of simple burglary and one count of theft. Additional charges are being prepared and Jeane is expected to be arrested this week on additional warrants. He remains in the Vernon Parish Jail and no bond has been set at the time of this release.
Candice Jeane was also arrested on one count of accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice. Her bond totaled $2,500, and she was released from the Vernon Parish Jail after posting bond.
Craft reminded the public to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Any suspicious persons or activities should be reported to local law enforcement immediately.
