Bills of information numbered 081112, 081113, 081114 and 081115, recorded at the Vernon Parish Clerk of Court contain wrongful information concerning the dates of a case of theft and trespassing on my property.
On Feb. 21, at least two people trespassed onto my property and stole a utility trailer, a pickup truck, gates, wood lathes and various scrap iron. The truck was sold to a local recycling center and immediately cut up.
The bills of information indicate that the crime took place over a period of two days, which is incorrect.
Perhaps the incorrect information at the courthouse was recorded intentionally, perhaps not. Mistakes do not just happen. Most are created by someone in the wrong position. I do not find this amusing. If incorrect information has been filed, then the suspects will be more likely to be released because of a technicality.
The people responsible for this crime must be properly charged and punished to prolong the faith in the legal system. In addition, everyone involved should be held fully responsible. Multiple trips were made onto and off my property, each one a separate offense of trespassing, though each of the two suspects was charged with only one count of trespassing.
I also believe that more people were involved in the crime that occurred on my property than have actually been arrested. For instance, only one other person knew that I would be gone from home all day. In addition, the property that was stolen from me was sold to a local recycling center that destroyed it immediately. Not much attention, if any, has been given to the fact that I was not affoded any opportunity to recover my property. I believe a specific time must be allowed for this purpose. The issue should be addressed.
I'm trying to shed light on the situation without being accusatory of those who are in the position of investigating and prosecuting the case. Some good must be achieved so that we do not lose faith. I appreciate all the good efforts by those who have worked on the case, but I'm worried that justice is not being served.

Sincerely your friend and neighbor,

Ralph Williams
