The Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 20, of Leesville, have erected a flag pole and monument at Hinson Cemetery in the Knight Community to honor Civil War and World War II veterans who are buried there, said Jeff Lee, commander of the chapter and newly elected state commander.
In a ceremony Sunday in conjunction with Hinson Church, which takes care of the cemetery, the monument and a new American were dedicated to the memory of America's fallen heroes, said Lee.
Lee said that several generations of families in the Knight Community are buried in the cemetery, with graves dating back to the 1800's.
