Vernon Parish native Amanda Craft won the $500 grand prize in the 2012 Beauty of Vernon Parish photo contest.
She, along with 11 other finalists, were hosted at an awards party Thursday evening at Threads Boutique in downtown Leesville.
Craft's "Misty Morning" depicts a foggy morning in late summer on Lions Camp Road in Anacoco, she said.
"I was on my way to work," she explained. "The way the fog was sitting in the field and the way the sun was sitting, I just had to jump out and take a few pictures." Craft said photography has been her hobby for the last 14 years. She said she plans to use the money she won to help buy Christmas for her two kids, Jayce, 8, and Jaiden, 6.
Craft is a helicopter mechanic at Fort Polk.
The other finalists and their photos are: Debi Comeaux - "Beautiful Morning"; Linda Glaspie - "Yellow Blooming Cactus"; John Hierath - "1910 Courthouse"; John Hierath - "Spider Lily Blossoms"; Anna McRae - "Jumping for Joy"; Anna McRae - "Long Leaf Pine - Upclose & Personal"; Laura McRae - "A Farmers Nightmare"; Brooke Perkins - "Fair Time"; Mohammad Sarfraz - "Spring In Leesville"; Brooxie Smith - "Fence Post"; Brooxie Smith - "Pecan Harvest Time."
