Three New Llano streets will soon be getting some much-needed repairs.
At Tuesday's regular New Llano Town Council meeting, town engineer Jim Verzwyvelt, of Pan-American Engineers, announced that the town was awarded $455,700 in Louisiana community block development grants (LCDBG) to repair Lake, Harper and Louisiana streets within the town limits.
The town had applied for the funding in late 2011, and at the time also discussed including Raymond Avenue in the project, but Verzwyvelt said that because the income level of residents living on Raymond Avenue was too high, that street would not be eligible for the LCDBG grants.
LCDBG grants are awarded to towns to improve living conditions in areas of "low to moderate income," according to the Louisiana Division of Administration's website.
Income level is generated from the most recent census data.
