The West Louisiana Forestry Festival and the Vernon Parish Fair will take place from Sept. 29 through Oct. 6 at the Vernon Parish Fairgrounds.
Kicking off the events at 8 on Sept. 26 will be the 4-H Pine Straw Stacking contest, featuring teams from many of the area 4-H clubs. At 1 p.m., the 4-H Horse Show will be held inside the Rodeo Arena, and at 7 p.m., the Queens Pageant will be held at the fairgrounds auditorium.
At 8 p.m. on Oct. 1, the Junior King and Queens Pageant will be held in the fairgrounds auditorium. The 4-H Woodsman Skills Competition will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 at the rodeo arena.
The fair opens at 3 p.m. on Oct. 3-4, and the midway will open at 4 p.m. each day. The rodeo parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Oct. 4, and the rodeo will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.
The fair and carnival will open at 9 a.m. on Oct. 5, along with the 4-H Pet Show. At 11 a.m., the 4-H Rabbit Show will be held, and the 4-H Poultry Show will take place at 2 p.m. The rodeo will begin at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
At 10 a.m. on Oct. 6, the 4-H Livestock Show will kick off the day's events. At noon, the fair and carnival will open, and the rodeo events will kick off at 7 p.m. with the 4-H Big Dog Bull Roping competition. The parade of champions will start at roughly 7:15 that evening, and the rodeo will follow at 7:30 p.m.
