Sen. John Smith was one of 11 senators and 30 state legislators honored as a Business Champion at the seventh annual Chamber SWLA Legis-Gator Luncheon held in Lake Charles earlier this week.
Business Champion honorees are those who voted a majority of the time with the chamber's legislative platform, supporting pro-business legislation, education reform, pension reform and the reform of legacy lawsuits.

Business Champion honorees are those who voted a majority of the time with the chamber's legislative platform, supporting pro-business legislation, education reform, pension reform and the reform of legacy lawsuits.
Also honored was Sen. Elbert Guillory (D-Opelousas) as the Legis-Gator of the Year, Rep. Bob Hensgens (R-Abbeville) as the Governmental Affairs Award recipient, House Speaker Chuck Kleckley (R-Lake Charles) as the Chair's Award recipient, and Rep. Stuart Bishop (R-Lafayette) as the Up and Coming Legislator Award recipient.
