One man from Oakdale has been arrested for harassing individuals over the telephone and desecrating a grave in unrelated incidents.
Keith Aaron Hernandez, 31, was charged with improper telephone communications and one count each of desecration of a grave, simple arson and criminal mischief.
According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, officers received a complaint on Aug. 29 in regards to harassing and threatening telephone calls in which three complainants indicated they had received from Hernandez.
Hernandez was located by VPSO deputies after a report of a suspicious vehicle was received by the VPSO. Hernandez was taken into custody and charged with three counts of improper telephone communication, with a bond set at $3,000.
The VPSO received an unrelated additional complaint on Aug. 30 in which a complainant alleged that Hernandez had gone to a local cemetery and caused damage to a grave.
The complainant in the matter indicated that she received information from another family member regarding the fact that Hernandez became angry at the family member and telephoned to advise that he had burned the grave.
The complainant and members of the decedent’s family were extremely distressed over the incident which they did report immediately.
VPSO deputies responded to the location of the graveyard, where they observed that several flower arrangements and other decorative items on the grave had been placed together and burned atop the grave.
Hernandez was arrested on Aug. 31 while incarcerated in the Vernon Parish Jail and charged with desecration of a grave, simple arson and criminal mischief. Bond on those three charges was set at $8,050.
Hernandez remains in the Vernon Parish Jail, as the Louisiana Office of Probation and Parole did place a hold on him as he is currently on parole.
