With the hunting seasons approaching, Leesville Chief of Police Greg Hill is reminding all residents that hunting is not permitted within the city limits.
Hill also reminds residents that, according to city ordinances, the discharge of weapons — including firearms, bows, compound bows, crossbows, or any similar instrument "used to propel arrows, bolts or similar projectiles" — is not permitted during both the day and nighttime, except for law enforcement officers in the course of their duties or persons acting in the "necessary defense of life or property."
City ordinances also state that a permit may be obtained from the chief of police for the purpose of discharging weapons for exhibition, education or competitive practice.
