LEESVILLE - The Leesville Wampus Cats (0-5) fell to the Washington Marion Charging Indians (4-1) 34-0, in the final tune up before both teams begin district play next week. The Charging Indians were led in the game by senior quarterback Melvin Jones, scoring three of the five touchdowns on 1, 52, and 67 yards runs, giving Jones a 156 yards rushing on the night. The Indians were led by Marius Rideaux in the passing the department completing 6-of-10 for 127 yards two touchdowns, with DaMaja Edwards being his go to guy with 76 yards and a touchdown. Washington Marion scored on a one yard by jones in the first quarter to lead 7-0, leading into the second when they put up 13 points scoring on Jones second score of the game on a 52 yard run and a 30 yard pass from Rideaux to Demond Delahousse to go up 20-0 at halftime. The Charging Indians put their final points of the game on the board in the third quarter scoring on a Jones 67 yard run and a Rideaux to Edwards 39 yard touchdown pass, handing the Cats their fifth straight loss of the season 34-0. The Cats had 36 yards of total offense on the night with five first downs, while the Charging Indians amassed 394 yards on nine first downs. “We have good kids here.” Leesville Coach Jimmy Adadms said. “They play hard and together and don’t have any quit in in them so they will be ready no matter who they play.” The Cats will open up District 3-4A play next week hosting Bolton at 7:00 p.m. at Wampus Cat Stadium.
