  • The Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas Parade will be at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 on Third Street in downtown Leesville.
The theme this year is "An Old Fashioned Piney Woods Christmas."
The deadline for parade participants is 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, with a $20 entry fee.
After entry forms are received, a lineup number will be assigned on or before the entry deadline date. This number will be written on a large card, and will be issued the day of the parade. The number must be placed on the outside of the windshield on the passenger side.
Lineup will be from 3:15 to 5 p.m. and all entries must be in place by 5 p.m.
All entries must be decorated for Christmas with music and lights in line with the theme.
Candy and trinkets can be thrown.
No entries may have a Santa Claus as there will be an official Santa float at the end of the parade.
If an entry has a long trailer, or is a a truck and trailer or marching unit combination, indicate on the entry form to insure there is enough space for each participant.
Each space is 30 feet long. If the number of spaces is not indicated on the entry form, it will be assumed that only one space is needed, and lineup numbers will be assigned accordingly.
There will be no extra entry fees assessed for additional spaces unless more than four spaces are needed.
Individual vehicle delivery of riders will not be allowed down the parade route after 4 p.m.
No stopping at any time during the parade to perform.
Do not stop to unload participants until reaching the South end of Third Street past the Kansas City Southern Railroad Depot.
Congestion from floats will cause delays in the parade, so please be considerate of this when stopping to unload.
When lining up for the parade, Berry Avenue and Mechanic Street will become one way at 3:15 p.m. going south from Leesville High School.
Participants can enter the lineup via Leesville High School at Miller or Belview streets.
A map of the parade route is available on request.
Judges will be located at the reviewing stand in front of the Police Jury building across from the Post Office on Third Street.
Send a representative to the judges stand for award presentations after the parade is complete.
Unloading is allowed after turning off the south end of Third Street after passing the Kansas City Southern Railroad Depot.
Do not allow participants to walk back up the parade route during the parade.
Alcoholic beverages, weapons, or offensive material is strictly prohibited, and violators will not participate in the parade.
