Vernon Parish native Shelby Kadrovich was recently crowned Miss Rodeo Louisiana 2013. Shelby, a native of Pitkin, is the daughter of Chris and Anita Kadrovich. She has been involved in the sport of rodeo since early childhood. She begin competing in youth rodeos and moved on up to high school and amateur rodeos where she competing in the barrel racing competition. In 2007 Shelby was crowned as the Louisiana State High School Rodeo Queen. In 2008 she was crowned as the Leesville Lions Club Rodeo Queen, and in 2009 she was crowned as the National Little Britches Rodeo Queen. Shelby is currently a senior at McNeese State University seeking a degree in animal science and agriculture business degree. She plans to continue her education at McNeese and earn a Master’s Degree in Agriculture. During her reign as Miss Rodeo Louisiana, Shelby will travel across the state and country, making appearances at rodeos and community events. She will share her love for rodeo, and our western way of life with others while promoting the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. In December, Shelby will represent Louisiana at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas, which coincides with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
