The Northwestern State baseball team will look to grab its first league win Thursday night at 6:30 when the Demons travel to McNeese State for a three-game Southland Conference series.

The Northwestern State baseball team will look to grab its first league win Thursday night at 6:30 when the Demons travel to McNeese State for a three-game Southland Conference series.

Game two of the series will take place on Friday at 6:30, and the final matchup will be at 2 o'clock on Saturday.

The Demons (9-18, 0-3 SLC) lost its 10th straight game Tuesday night when they fell to the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 5-4. The Cowboys (14-9, 2-1 SLC) did not have a midweek game, but are coming off of a 2-1 series win over league rival Lamar a week ago.

Left-hander Cody Butler (1-1, 6.20 ERA) will get the starting nod on the mound for the Demons on Friday, and he will face right-hander Bryce Kingsley (4-2, 2.88) for McNeese.

Butler's last start came at third-ranked LSU on March 20, and allowed only one run to the Tigers on six hits in nine innings pitched.

The Demons leading hitter is Will Watson who leads the team in batting average (.341), runs batted in (13), slugging percentage (.435), hit by pitch (8), and on-base percentage (.440)

Connor Lloyd enters the game as the Cowboys' leading hitter with a .351 batting average, and Jackson Gooch leads the team in runs batted in with 24 on the season.

The Demons will not play a midweek game next week, but will return to action on April 5th when the face Central Arkansas at home in Brown-Stroud Field.
