  • The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office and the Vernon Narcotics Task Force have announced several recent arrest, including a Leesville man who was arrested for possession of child pornography.
    Elliot Richard Duke, 27, was charged with one count each of pornography of a juvenile and distribution of pornography.
    According to the VPSO, the sheriff's office received information of an individual involved in the possession and viewing of pornography of a juvenile on May 14. Upon receiving the information, detectives from the VPSO and agents with the Louisiana State Police traveled to a residence on Watson Road in Leesville, and made contact with Duke, the tenant of the residence. During a search, agents discovered child pornography on the subject's computer. The computer was confiscated and taken as evidence. Duke was transported to the VPSO, where is bond is pending. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and other charges are pending.
    The Vernon Narcotics Task Force also announced that on May 14, in an unrelated incident, the criminal patrol division initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Kurt Kuhlow, 40, of Anacoco. During the traffic stop, drug paraphernalia and approximately $1,800 in cash was discovered. The cash was confiscated after the Narcotics Task Force K-9 alerted on the money.
    Kuhlow was charged with one count each of failure to obey stop signs, no driver's license, expired tags, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail, and his bond was set at $1,552.
    In a separate incident on May 14, the Narcotics Task Force criminal division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Shandi Cole, 27, of Evans. Cole was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. She was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail, and her bond was set at $1,801.
