On May 31, Central Louisiana will launch its second Startup Weekend, an event bringing together entrepreneurs, designers, developers and startup enthusiasts to participate in 54 hours of taking innovative business ideas from concept to launch.
Local CEOs, founders, business coaches and startup veterans will be on hand to provide expertise and give talks on their experiences in the fast-paced world of startup businesses. Beginning on May 31, participants will take the open mic to pitch their ideas to the group in 60 seconds or less. After participants vote on their favorite ideas, teams will form. The rest of the weekend will be filled with turning the most popular ideas, with the help of mentors and seasoned startup entrepreneurs, into business proposals. By June 2, teams will be ready to present their ideas in front of a panel of judges, who will award prizes valued at more than $10,000 and include a year of business coaching, website design, a branding package, Quickbooks setup and training, and more. All the prizes are designed to help entrepreneurs build their startups after the weekend.
Startup Weekend Central Louisiana welcomes anyone, high school age or older, interested in learning more, pitching and developing a first idea, or working on their first (or seventh) business.
Startup Weekend Central Louisiana begins at 6:30 p.m. May 31 and ends at 8 p.m. June 2.
