  • There will be receptions at two art galleries in downtown Leesville on Saturday, Sept. 14.
A retrospective of Isabelle Massart-Bursh's work will be featured at the Joseph Sisters Gallery.
Massart-Bursh has resided in Leesville since 1988. A native of Belgium, she is an art teacher at Leesville Junior High School.
She and fellow local artist Paula Sche-Baldwin work together as "2 Gals." They teach art classes, and were featured in "Flights of Fancy" at Gallery One Ellleven earlier this year.
Massart-Bursh is a founding member of Gallery One Ellleven, which is also hosting a reception at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The Fourth Annual Competition Exhibition will feature an awards presentation and gallery talk by Alyssa Fridgen.
She is curator at the Alexandria Museum of Art.
"The Beauty of Vernon" is an annual photo competition sponsored by the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce.
The Black and White reception follows at 7 p.m., which features mixed media works by Gallery 111 artists, and guests are asked to wear black and/or white.
Joseph Sisters Gallery is celebrating their one year anniversary at a new location, 406 C S. Third St.
Owner Scott Kincade will be on hand to greet guests at the gallery, which also features a wide range of artistic works including original jewelry designs.
Gallery 111 and JSG will be open 6-10 p.m., and it is also Second Saturday. Merchants will be open along Third Street in downtown historic Leesville. As of July 1, Main Street Leesville became a Louisiana Cultural District, and original art is tax free.
