Fans of local author E.P. Garth will have the chance to meet the writer and have their copies of his first book, "Off the Air: a Pat Cassidy Novel." signed.
Garth, who currently teaches at Sabine Parish schools and once taught at Rosepine, will be appearing at the Sabine Parish Library in Many on Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. This will be the only chance in the near future for Garth to meet up with his local fans and personally autograph his book based on his fictional crime buster, Pat Cassidy.
"There are several book signings being held, but this will be the only one in the local area," said  Garth, though a signing may be held in Leesville next year.
The books are based on Garth's experiences in radio broadcasting. Some of the text describes areas on Toledo Bend Lake where he now resides.
Based in the year 1976, "Off the Air" follows Pat Cassidy as he begins building his radio career. When he stumbles upon a politically corrupt plan to steal the election for governor, Cassidy teams up with his buddy, newsman Brett Tucker, to unravel the corruption that involves murder and deceit.
"Off the Air" is the first installation in what Garth plans on becoming a series. He has already begun work on his next book, "Out of Touch," which is expected to be released in the fall of 2010.
