Keith Dixon, 53, of Leesville and former Vernon Parish Sheriff's Deputy was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office on Aug. 13.
According to the booking report at the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, Dixon, while working in the Vernon Parish Jail, introduced contraband, in the form of cigarettes, to female inmates in exchange for information.
It is against all policies for guards to give contraband to inmates in exchange for information.
After allegations of wrongdoing were reported by one of the female inmates, the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation at the conclusion of which Dixon's employment was terminated and he was arrested.
Dixon was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail and was released after posting bond.
