The fourth annual Young Writer’s Conference will be held at The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) on Feb. 17 for students in grades seven through 12. The event is sponsored by the LSMSA English faculty and the first session will begin at 10 a.m. There will be sessions on writing poetry, writing fiction and writing non-fiction prose. Students will be competing for prizes in the following categories: best original poem, best original story and best original essay.
Entries can be mailed to Dr. Art Williams at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, 715 University Parkway, Natchitoches, La. 71457 or sent by e-mail to awilliams@lsmsa.edu All entries are due no later than Feb. 3 and should be double spaced and observe standard margins.
The registration fee is $5.00 and is payable at the door or in advance. The registration does not cover the cost of lunch.
