ANACOCO — According to a press release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, a Sunday shooting in the area of Ross Road ended with the killing of two victims, along with the shooter.

ANACOCO — According to a press release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, a Sunday shooting in the area of Ross Road ended with the killing of two victims, along with the shooter.

The VPSO responded to a 911 call at approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, in which the caller stated a female had been shot.

Sheriff Sam Craft, deputies and detectives responded to the location. Upon their arrival, two deceased persond were discovered inside the residence.

The two deceased person were later identified as 48-year-old Norma Ross of Anacoco and 30-year-old Calvin Stubbs of Leesville.

While at the scene, witnesses told deputies that Derrick Ross, 36, of Anacoco, the nephew of Norma Ross, was the shooter. Additionally, witnesses said they did not know the whereabouts of Derrick ross.

The area surrounding the residence was quickly secured, while the Vernon Parish Special Response Team, along with the Vernon Correctional Facility Chase Team, deployed to the location.

Law enforcement officers began combing the area searching for the suspect, eventually locating the deceased body of Ross in a wooded area near the residence.

Personnel with the Vernon Parish Coroner's Office arrived at the location thereafter and determined Ross died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
