Three more couples have been selected to the annual Mardi Gras court.

The 2017 Knights of Columbus King Christopher SLII Mardi Gras Court will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the St. Michael’s Church Community Center.

Among those selected as duke and duchess were Madison and Alice Guess, Cory and Lindsey Burggraff and Joe and Rhonda Martinez.

Madison and Alice Guess have been married for 13 years and have three children — Katina, Ira Cordell II and Ryan Upshaw.

SFC (Ret.) Madison Guess was born in Michigan to Madison and the late Ruth Guess. He served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, where he received an associate’s degree in business from Central Texas College. He works as the program manager at MWR Aquatic and teach drown-proofing to soldiers and swim lessons to the youth.

Alice Guess was born on Fort Polk and is the daughter of CSM (Ret.) Lawrence and the late Leona Williams. She is a lifetime Catholic and has been a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church for 35 years. A 1977 graduate of Leesville High School, she has been a teacher for over 30 years with the Vernon Parish School Board, while also serving as a member of the Leesville City Council for the past 26 years.

The Burggraffs have been married for 12 years and have been members of St. Michael’s for one year. They have three children — Gavin, Layla and Roman.

Cory was born in Golden Valley, Minnesota, and has a bachelor’s degree in history and an ssociate’s degree in intensive care paramedic. A CW-3 in the U.S. Army, he flies OH-58C helicopters and has received the Combat Action Badge and Air Medal.

Lindsey was born in Burnsville, Minnesota. After graduating from Scot Lewis Beauty School in cosmetology, she worked as a hairstylist before becoming a fulltime stay-at-home mother to their three children.

Joe and Rhonda Martinez have three daughters — Katy Martinez Grindal, the late Crystal Madden-Crews and Tara Madden Corley — and six grandchildren — Morgan, Madison, Callee, McKenzie, Kristian and Cannon.

Joe was born in Shreveport and is the son of Joseph and Myrtle Martinez. He is a graduate of Leesville High School and has been a member of St. Michael’s Church since he was just a year old. He served four years in the U.S. Army and is also a life member of the VFW.

Rhonda was born in Waukegan, Illinois to Oscar and Fern Burleson. A graduate of Florien High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration at Northwestern State University and is retired from the Department of Labor.

For the past two and a half years, she has worked as the executive assistant for the Greater Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce. Rhonda is also a member of the Mayor’s Women’s Commission along with the Rotary Club.
