GLENMORA — After dropping a tough season opener on Tuesday, the Simpson Broncos bats came to life this past weekend in the Grace Christian Tournament.

GLENMORA — After dropping a tough season opener on Tuesday, the Simpson Broncos bats came to life this past weekend in the Grace Christian Tournament.

Simpson (3-1) picked up three wins during the event, knocking off Class 3A Ville Platte, Class 1A LaSalle and Family Christian.

The Broncos return to action next week as they take their annual excursion to the Crowley Tournament.

In what would be their closest game of the event, the Broncos got two huge RBIs from Weston Parker, along with a solo homer from Mitchell Crooks as Simpson claimed a 5-3 victory over the LaSalle Tigers.

Isaac Allbritton earned the win on the mound, going five innings. He gave up two runs and struck out 10 batters before giving way to Parker, who got the save by going two inning and giving up one run with four strikeouts.

Parker was 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a double, while Crooks hit the first homer of his varsity career.

Landon Meyers and Skylar Merriman each had a hit and brought in a run.

Meyers worked three innings on the hill for the win, while both Colton Parker and Allbritton homered as the Simpson Broncos doused the Flames of Family Christian on Saturday, 18-1.

Meyers gave up one run on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks in the win, while Dustin Williams worked two innings, giving up no runs on no hits with five strikeouts.

Parker went 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and two RBIs, while Williams was 2-for-3 with a double and four runs scored.

Allbritton added a solo homer in the win for Simpson.

Cole Haymon got the first win of his varsity career, while Weston Parker homered for the second time this season as Simpson downed Ville Platte with ease, 14-1.

Haymon pitched three innings, giving up one run on one hit with two strikeouts, while Parker pitched two innings, giving up one hit with no runs and five strikeouts.

Parker ad a pair of hits, including his second homer, along with a trio of RBIs, while Colton Parker was 2-for-3.

Meyers added a pair of hits, including an RBI-double, while also scoring three runs as the Broncos coasted to the easy win.
