HICKS — Collin Cowgill gave up one hit over four innings, while Trace Williams had three hits and four RBIs as the Hicks Pirates defeated the Negreet Indians on Monday in a non-district contest, 11-0.

HICKS — Collin Cowgill gave up one hit over four innings, while Trace Williams had three hits and four RBIs as the Hicks Pirates defeated the Negreet Indians on Monday in a non-district contest, 11-0.

With the victory, the Pirates improved to 4-1 overall. Last week, they defeated East Beauregard, 12-3, in the season opener, while also beating both Hamilton Christian and Family Christian in the Grace Christian Tournament.

The Pirates did drop one game at the tournament, a 5-3 decision to LaSalle.

On Monday, Hicks dominated from the start.

The Pirates pushed three runs across in the bottom of the first inning and scored six times in the bottom of the second to open up a 9-0 lead.

After a scoreless third inning, the Pirates pushed two runners across in the fourth and Triston Doyle pitched a scoreless fifth to secure the victory in five innings.

Cowgill have up no runs on one hit with six strikeouts in four innings on the hill, while also collecting a hit.

Williams was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs, while Doyle went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Daniel Miller, Brinnen Gordy, Brock Beaubouef and Alex Hebert each collected a hit for the Pirates.

Hicks will return to action on Thursday at the Rosepine Tournament. The Pirates play two times on Thursday and once on Friday.
