WINNSBORO — For the second year in a row, the Leesville Lady Cats victimized Franklin Parish.

Three Lady Cats had at least three hits, while Bella Houck picked up the win in the circle as No. 17 Leesville upended the No. 16 Franklin Parish Lady Patriots on Monday in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, 12-6.

With the victory, the Lady Cats won for the fourth straight game, improving to 14-15 overall.

However, the next playoff game will not be an easy one as the Lady Cats travel to North DeSoto in Stonewall on Thursday to face the top-ranked Lady Griffins.

First pitch is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Cats jumped out to an early 3-run lead.

Zakayla Collins led off with a triple and scored ona sacrifice by Precious Mundy for a 1-0 lead.

Erin Lewis later singled with two outs and scored on a triple by Lauren Kreyenbuhl. A single by Ryleigh Hicks gave the Lady Cats a 3-0 advantage.

It was a rather quiet game until the bottom of the fifth when Franklin Parish scored two runs. However, Leesville answered with six in the top of the sixth, including a two-run double by Skylar Maines and RBIs from Collins, Mundy and Keke Poteat.

Franklin Parish rallied for four in the bottom of the frame, but Lewis put things out of reach in the top of the seventh with a 3-run blast to seal the deal.

Houck took the win in the circle for the Lady Cats. She worked the first five innings, came out, then went back in to seal the deal in the seventh.

Lewis was 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Kreyenbuhl was also 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.

Hicks went 3-for-5 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored, while Collins finished with two extra-base hits and two runs scored.

Mundy added two runs scored and two RBIs, while Poteat had a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Alexis Westlake also added a hit, while Madison Mount had an RBI.
