I am not a native of DeRidder but grew up in the Piney Woods of Texas just over the state line. I left small town living for the last 15 years, and I am so glad to be back in a true community. I am especially excited to be in DeRidder after meeting the mayor and just scratching the surface of the rich history this small town contains. I intend on spending my time here, which I hope is a long, long time, learning as much as I can about the people who make this community great, past, present, and our future.

“I am excited about adding Nikke to our editorial staff,” said Beauregard News Editor, Steven Iles. “She brings a unique view to the news room, with her background in education, coaching and as being a mother of five Children.”

I am a mother of five, yes FIVE, lovely children. We have a blended family and live life to the fullest. My husband is a soldier, and we are very proud of him and his accomplishments. He is our family’s personal hero.

I am a graduate of Armstrong State University in Savannah, GA with a BA in English. I spent the last few years teaching and coaching at a Texas high school, and while I loved it, I am enjoying a break to focus on my writing. I look forward to bringing you your local news and sports coverage.
