Jonathan Harvey has had surgery and is currently in stable condition.    Also, his birthdate is listed as 12.23.1990.   This is an ongoing investigation, officers and detectives are working to find out more information.

Arrest made in connection to Gonzales shooting at Municipal Park

Gonzales, LA - On Sunday evening, April 23, Jonathan Harvey was shot during a non-permitted fundraiser at Munivipal Park in Gonzales. He was attending an event to raise funeral expenses for his recently murdeted brother Clarence Harvey.

On April 24, Melvin Sanders, 31, of 502 W Sixth Street, Donaldsonville, was arrested and charged with both Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Sanders was originally detained as a person of interest. 

The City of Gonzales Police Department investigation is ongoing, and more arrests and charges may be pending for different parties in attendance at the fundraiser.

Gonzales, LA - At approximately 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, City of Gonzales Police Department officers were dispatched to Municipal Park in response to a 'shots fired' call. Upon their arrival, officers learned that a non-permitted fundraiser was being held to assist with funeral expenses for recently murdered Clarence Harvey. An altercation between Jonathan Harvey, the murder victim's brother, and two people occurred. The fight escalated, leading to Jonathan Harvey being shot at least six times.

Harvey was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital by a private vehicle before officers arrived on scene. He has since been transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where he is in critical condition awaiting surgery.

City of Gonzales Police Department Detectives are investigating the shooting, and two persons of interest are currently detained.
