Three Dollar General stores at various locations within Vernon Parish (two in Leesville, one in Pitkin) have been approved for liquor licenses. The requests were submitted to the Police Jury by Darryl McGovern, Dollar General District Manager. The stores will sell beverages of both low and high alcohol content.

The jury approved a request from Carl Thompson, Parish Road Manager, for Lester Edwards, Public Works Department, to receive donated sick time from his co-workers, per the guidelines in the Personnel Manual, due to illness.

A resident of Thompson Road requested that the Police Jury abandon a portion of the road, because he has built a private road to access his property. The segment of road starts at 990 feet and continues to the dead end.

A public hearing will be held so the public has an opportunity to raise concerns and input, as to this decision. The public hearing will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, June 19, during the regular Police Jury meeting in Leesville.
