A compressed natural gas (CNG) "Road Rally" caravan is passing through Leesville tomorrow morning, as it travels from the west coast to the east coast.

The CNG Road Rally began in California and is coming through Leesville on its way to Houston. From there it will pass through four other states, and end in Washington, D.C.

At each stop along the way, a celebratory event will be held to bring awareness to the capabilities and benefits of CNG-powered vehicles. "It's a time for people to come see the vehicles and have a hot dog," said Clarence Beebe, Hornbeck Mayor.

Approximately 12-15 local residents will participate in the trip, including Beebe himself. There will be one or two 18-wheelers, one furniture truck, one garbage truck, and a handful of smaller vehicles as well, he said.

The event will run from 10 a.m. - noon, at the CNG filling station at 901 North 6th Street, Leesville. Lunch will be provided, and all are invited to come see off the CNG Road Rally.
