Hornbeck's Town Council meeting started off with a full-house last Monday.

Hornbeck's Town Council meeting started off with a full-house last Monday.

The town presented a plaque to Hornbeck High School track runner, John Jett II, freshman, who won the state championship. Jett runs a 4-minute, 20-second mile.

Two other members of the team also participated in the state championship. "Thank you for representing Hornbeck," said Mayor Clarence Beebe. "People notice positive leadership and it's a positive influence on the rest of the community."

Everyone celebrated with snacks, drinks, and about fifteen minutes of socializing.

When the rest of the meeting resumed, most of the people who came to support the athletes, left the town hall.

There was much talk and excitement about the upcoming Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Ride-and-Drive Road Rally. The trip headed out on Wednesday, for a Leesville-to-Houston leg of the trip.

The CNG Road Rally is a coast-to-coast drive, which began in California and ends in Washington, D.C. At each stop along the way, an event is held at local CNG filling stations to celebrate and bring awareness to the benefits of the fuel.
