On Monday evening, the Anacoco Town Council accepted the resignation of town clerk, Lisa Manning and hired her replacement, Shaunda Pridgen.

"Lisa's been offered a better job and now she's kicking us tot he curb," joked Mayor Keith Lewing. "She has done well; we hate to see her go," said Mayor Keith Lewing.

Manning expected to be the town clerk of Anacoco for the rest of her career. "I love my town, and the people. I've had nothing but good times. It's a very tough decision to make, but at this stage in my life, it's what I need to do for my family."

"It is through a broken heart and tears that I accept your resignation," said Councilwoman Laverne Miers.

"She has been a great clerk," said Councilman Mark Phillips. "She is very dedicated to the town and it has been an honor to have worked with her. We are all going to miss Lisa."

Vickie Standifer, Mayor of Simpson, came to Manning's last council meeting. "We're really going to miss you," she said. You and Ms. Miers have been helpful for Simpson with a new mayor and new council. We always call and ask you first. You've been a godsend."

Former Anacoco Councilman Shane Freeman also came to bid farewell to Manning. "For four years I had the pleasure of working with Lisa. She's always been a firm rock to keep the peace when we all didn't get along. The loss of Lisa is definitely a big hit for the town," he said.

Manning's last day as town clerk of Anacoco is June 30. In the meantime, she is training Pridgen. "Lisa's been teaching me well," she said.
