USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in cooperation with the Louisiana Armed Forces Foundation, Acadiana RC&D and the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Alexandria are partnering to host a free workshop on July 28, 2017, open to any veteran or family member interested in learning more about agriculture.

Topics to be covered include bee keeping, raising goats, how to install a raised bed garden and more. In addition to guest speakers there will be hands-on demonstrations.

“NRCS is proud to partner with the Louisiana Armed Forces Foundation, Acadiana RC&D and the VA to reach out to our service men and women,” stated Kevin Norton, State Conservationist for NRCS in Louisiana. “We are very excited about the event on July 28 th . This is an opportunity for veterans to learn how to get connected to agriculture either as a hobby or starting a small family farm. There are so many possibilities and
ways for folks to get involved.”

The workshop will be held from 8:30 am until noon at the Alexandria VA Medical Center’s auditorium located in Building 8 at 2495 Shreveport Highway in Pineville, Louisiana.
