The Church in Rosepine helped relieve some of the back-to-school stress by giving away school supplies to community children.

The church and its members, along with sponsors from the community, gave away backpacks loaded with school supplies for the upcoming year on Saturday at the Church in Rosepine.

"We had a vision to help the community," Lead Pastor Greg Crawford said. "Back to school is a tough time on families, just because of the needs for supplies. The church brought in enough supplies for 200 backpacks."

Not only were schools supplies–which were gone in 30 minutes–available, but the church also had bike raffles, IDs for the kids, face painting, a bounce house, haircuts by Studio 101 in Leesville and free food.

This was the first year the church held the event, and Crawford is hoping to go even bigger next year.

"We will keep doing it," he said. "Next year, I have a vision of 400 backpacks. We want to double our impact in the community."
