Family members of the late Dr. Billie McRae attended a private dedication of a sculpture on Saturday at the Magnolia Art Park in Leesville.

McRae, along with Vernon Parish artist Larry Leach, initiated the creation of this collaborative sculpture in 1976, now called “Billie” in her memory.
Vernon Parish students collaborated with McRae and Leach to develop the design and construction of “Billie.”
This large-scale welded steel sculpture stood in front of the Vernon Parish School Board Office, and then the Special Education Center for many years.
Weather-worn, “Billie” has been revitalized and moved to its new home at the park.
The public dedication of the sculpture will be at 4 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 5.
