FORT POLK, La. — Two ongoing construction projects are creating some
delays at Fort Polk gates:

• Active vehicle barriers are being installed on Louisiana Avenue near the

intersection of Holmund and the old South Polk Elementary School to

improve the security of Fort Polk.

The construction — which began Nov. 27 — is expected to take about 30

days. Traffic will be re-routed around the construction site and the roadway

reduced to one lane in both directions.

Due to the heavy traffic volume of the installation main gate (ACP 1) and

the intersections along this route, residents and guests can expect long

delays.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use alternate points of entry to the

installation, such as ACP 5 (La. Hwy 10), as well as using alternate exits out

of housing areas that border Louisiana Avenue to avoid congestion during

peak traffic hours (7-9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. daily).

For more information call 531-2677.

• The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development continues

work — weather permitting — on the La. Hwy 467 pavement patching and

overlay project. This pavement patching and overlay project is located on

La. Hwy 467 from its junction with U.S. Hwy 171 to Fort Polk ACP 2.

This 5.3-mile overlay is receiving grading, drainage structures, milling

asphalt concrete, pavement patching and more.

The roadway will be reduced to one lane during construction operations.

Work is expected to be complete in February 2018.
