Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed HR-38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act to amend the federal criminal code which would allow an individual with a concealed carry permit in one state to carry a firearm in another concealed carry state, so long as that person follow the laws of the state.
The House Judiciary Committee passed this bill out of committee on Nov. 29 and Rep. Mike Johnson (LA 4th District), a cosponsor of the bill spoke on the house floor in favor of the legislation before the vote.
Rep. Johnson released the following statement: "The American People have a constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. And just as we are afforded our right to speak freely no matter what state we are in, so too are we bestowed our rights outlined under the second amendment regardless of where we are in the united states. I am proud to have helped usher this historic bill through the House."
