Karyl Newman discusses an image of the Llano del Rio colony in Antelope Valley California taken over 100 years ago.

Newman spoke to a crowd at the Museum of the New Llano Colony Saturday morning. Her speaking event was coordinated to mark the 100th anniversary of the 200 colonists who made there way from California to Louisiana. The colonists arrived on Dec. 4, 1917 and started the New Llano colony.
