Starting Thursday, every boys and girls basketball team in Vernon Parish will compete in a single elimination tournament.

The tournament kicks off with play-in games at Hornbeck High School Thursday night.

Hornbeck's Charlie Alexander is pulling double-duty as the athletic director and coach of Hornbeck boys.

"I have some help," Alexander said. "Our girls coaches are helping are helping out a whole lot, and the administration does a lot to help out. We're a small school so everyone takes part in it."

The coaches from around the Parish had a meeting to rank the teams to set up the seedings for the tournament.

"We got together and seeded everybody," Alexander said. "We volunteered to host it. We just got our floor redone and wanted to show it off a little bit. We like to do a lot for the Parish."
